Fernandina Beach and Nassau County, Florida are enlisting the help of a lobbying firm, according to this report.
City Attorney Tammi Bach said that, in her experience, lobbying contracts “almost always pay themselves back 10 times over. I think this is a great idea. It’s the right time and the right people.”
Mayor Bruce Malcolm noted that Jacobs has “an excellent relationship with (U.S. Sen. Bill) Nelson,” who is “next to the levers of power in Washington, D.C.”
Commissioner Ken Walker likened the appointment of Jacobs & Associates to investing in a backhoe, and added that he was “extremely confident” the city would get more than its money’s worth.
