MD: Personal Use?

A Baltimore City council member is facing charges of improper use of campaign funds, according to this report.

A grand jury returned an indictment against Kenneth Oliver, 4th District council member. The indictment claims that the 63-year-old Oliver of Randallstown wrote two checks for $2,000 each to his wife and himself from the campaign account.

The indictment also alleges that Oliver, although he was not the treasurer of the campaign finance committee, had control of the committee’s checking account, writing checks to himself, supposedly for campaign expenses. But, according to the state prosecutor, no receipts were presented documenting expenditures.
