The pie metaphor once again appears in this CQ article on the stimulus bill.
Even though the size and contents of the stimulus remain undecided, requests are pouring in. The U.S. Conference of Mayors counted 15,221 construction projects for roads, transit, schools and housing that total $96 billion and are ready to go.
“There has been little detail about why that number is going up, except shock and awe for the economy,” Ellis said. “While we are happy that the vice president indicated that there aren’t going to be earmarks, just handing out treasure chests of cash to the states and localities is not the right answer, either.”
