Lobbyist Contingency Fees

A Maryland lobbyist settled with the state ethics commission over issues related to an alleged contingency fee arrangement. In the settlement, which is expected to be made public today, [lobbyist Bruce] Bereano acknowledges “that sufficient evidence exists to construe” the fee arrangement as improper, but he does not admit liability.

Alaska Fund Trust Launched

The Alaska Fund Trust recently launched to “to defend the integrity of the Alaska Governor’s Office from an onslaught of political attacks launched against current Governor Sarah Palin, the First Family, and state-employed colleagues,” and its website contains interesting legal information about its formation, structure, and other legal defense trusts.
