Arrests in Massive Money Laundering and Corruption Investigation, Former Election Lawyer Peter Cammarano Arrested

The Times has the latest on a massive money laundering and corruption investigation in New Jersey and New York.  Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano III was among those arrested.  Until recently, according to his campaign’s website (it’s still accepting donations), he was a lawyer at Genova, Burns & Vernoia.

He’s litigated some of New Jersey’s most significant election law cases. In 2004, Peter served as Hoboken’s coordinator for the Kerry-Edwards presidential campaign. In 2006, Peter was the statewide legal coordinator for Bob Menendez’s Senate campaign.

The firm’s hasn’t been scrubbed, yet, and refers to a number of cases he was involved in and some articles he’s written, including one on federal campaign finance laws.
