Donors as ambassadors, Gerald Walpin, and nomination news

The Washington Times reports that Alan Solomont’s nomination to be Ambassador to Spain has been delayed because of questions reagrding his role in the firing of Corporation for National and Community Service Inspector General Gerald Walpin.

Republican Sen. Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, a leading whistleblower advocate who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, has requested records from the White House and the Corporation for National and Community Service about Mr. Walpin’s firing.
