Mayor Bloomberg paid over $2 million in bonuses to campaign workers, according to this report.
Three top staffers each received $400,000 bonuses, one got $150,000, and 91 others got a sum roughly equivalent to 20 percent of their salaries. The total amount distributed came to $2.4 million, campaign officials said.
Presidential candidates in the public funding system are covered by Federal Election Commission regulations on bonuses and gifts to employees.
Monetary bonuses for employees and consultants in recognition of campaign-related activities or services must be provided for pursuant to a written contract made prior to the general election and must be paid no later than 30 days after the end of the expenditure report period.
