“Free speech for al-Qaida”

The Detroit Free-Press has this provocative cartoon and blog post today on Citizens United and the foreign national expenditure issue.

The ramifications of this ruling are truly frightening. Nothing’s to stop some North Korean corporation from spending huge sums of cash to defeat a congressional candidate who advocates for a stronger US foreign policy stance against North Korea. Nothing’s to stop a Japanese corporation from spending huge sums to defeat a US Senator who backs tariffs on Japanese-manufactured vehicles that are streaming into our country. As bad as our campaign finance system is now, it’s about to get a whole lot worse.
