The Times is reporting that President Obama’s State of the Union speech may be mischaracterizing the Supreme Court’s opinion in Citizens United (scroll to the 8:31 p.m. entry).
The president appeared to have mischaracterized the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn restrictions on corporate-paid political commercials by suggesting that the decision invited political advertisements by foreign companies, too.
With the Chief Justice and Justice Kennedy a few feet away, maybe we’ll get a reaction shot?
UPDATE: It seemed to be President Obama’s reference to his “century” remark that prompted Justice Alito to shake his head and mouth what looked like “not true.” (NBC had the reaction shot I was hoping for.)
