Kentucky plan to amend campaign finance law dashed

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that a plan to amend Kentucky’s campaign finance limits was aborted in the legislature’s final session.

A closed-door committee of Senate and House members Wednesday night added language to House Bill 152 — a routine elections bill — to increase the sums that candidates and political parties can collect; let the parties take money from corporations; and let legislators take donations from lobbyists when they run for a statewide constitutional office, such as governor, attorney general or auditor.
