The LA Times reports that Facebook hired a Sacramento lobbyist.
William Gonzalez registered as the Palo Alto company’s first state-level lobbyist last week. He has been hired to lobby the Legislature and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on privacy and technology issues, state records show. His contract runs through September.
There can be no mistake – Facebook is big big business these days. The amount of influence and sheer users that Facebook commands is something that all legislatures should be paying attention to.
I suspect we’ll be seeing more and more involvement at the state level as Facebook fights to increase its ability to serve and profit from users.
