Putting the fun in “fundraiser”
The Chicago Tribune describes some fundraising techniques here. Candidates who won in 2008 spent an average of $8.5 million in Senate contests, up from $3.8 million in 1990, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks money in politics. For House races, the average was $1.3 million, up from about $400,000 in 1990.
