Lobbying, the money race, complaints, and ethics in today’s political law links

AMENDED COMPLAINT AGAINST MCCASKILL. Roll Call reports.  “In a conference call with reporters, Missouri Republican Party Executive Director Lloyd Smith said the state party would file an amended complaint to the Senate Ethics Committee, asking the panel to review McCaskill’s use of the plane for two political events.”

THIRD TRIAL FOR KEVIN RING. Roll Call. “Kevin Ring, a former colleague of ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff, will face a third trial related to a public corruption scandal, this time on charges that he lied to investigators hired by his former lobbying firm.”  MainJustice.com has more here.

LOBBYING AND PARTY AFFILIATION. The party affiliation of one lobbying firm’s lobbyists is the topic of this report.

2012 MONEY RACE. Salant reports.  “Barack Obama raised $59 million for his presidential campaign during the first half of 2007. To match that, prospective Republican challengers to his reelection would need to take in roughly $590,000 a day until June 30 if they entered the race today.”

BIRTHDAY PARTY IN THE NEWS. “The Four Seasons Hotel has sued Wright-Jones, a Democrat from St. Louis, for the unpaid portion of the bill of a $6,000 party held at the hotel last year. . . . The party, according to a menu attached to the suit, featured coconut shrimp hors d’ oeuvres, a ‘made to order pasta station,’ roasted sirloin of beef with port wine sauce and a vanilla sheet cake with strawberries reading ‘Happy 60th Birthday Robin!'”  More here.
