INDEPENDENT GROUP FUNDRAISING.  The Post.  “Interest groups closely linked to both parties revealed a bevy of financiers who wrote six- and seven-figure checks to back Republican and Democratic candidates in disclosure documents filed over the weekend.”

KATZENBERG GIVES $2 MILLION.  WSJ.  “Most of Priorities USA Action’s haul came from a single, $2 million donation from Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of Dreamworks Animation.”

LOBBYING FOR LOBBYISTS.  Politico.  “‘We need a consistent presence, and it seems hypocritical for me not to register,’ said Howard Marlowe, president of the American League of Lobbyists, who in April registered as a federal lobbyist to represent the interests of the league’s members.”

$1 MILLION IN CAMPAIGN FINES OWED.  Story here.  “The Board of Ethics, which enforces campaign finance laws, shows on its website almost $1.06 million that’s owed by 341 candidates who filed reports late and have not paid their fines or paid only a portion of the assessed fines.”

TIGANI CASE AND DELAWARE LOBBYIST LAWS.  Here.  “Tigani never registered as a lobbyist, and not one penny of the handouts ever were tied in to his former company, N.K.S. Distributors, in quarterly or annual Public Integrity Commission reports on lobbying.”

PENSION FOR JOHNNSON IN THE NEWS.  The Post.  “In all likelihood, Jack B. Johnson, the crook who ran, and ripped off, Prince George’s County for eight years, will soon be on his way to federal prison for an extended stay. Amazingly, though, Maryland taxpayers are not done supporting Mr. Johnson, despite his guilty plea to corruption charges and public disgrace. Due to a quirk in state law, he began receiving a government pension of nearly $50,000 a year in January.”

And according to the Christian Science Monitor, the creators say they’ve heard from people in seven countries who want to start their own versions.”
