SPEECH QUESTIONS.   NYT.  “Justice Neil M. Gorsuch, President Trump’s Supreme Court appointee, is scheduled to address a conservative group at the Trump International Hotel in Washington next month, less than two weeks before the court is set to hear arguments on Mr. Trump’s travel ban.”

ENTITIES PAID.   WP.  “The Republican National Committee paid the Trump International Hotel in Washington $122,000 last month after the party held a lavish fundraiser at the venue in June, the latest example of how GOP political committees are generating a steady income stream for President Trump’s private business, new Federal Election Commission records show.”

CA:  GOT A BREAK.   SB.   “The state’s campaign finance watchdog voted Thursday to flip its longstanding opinion on contribution limits and allow legislators and other candidates to give unlimited sums of money to help Democratic Sen. Josh Newman fight a recall election.”

CA:  GRAY FINED.   MSS.   “The Fair Political Practices Commission issued an $8,500 fine on Thursday to Assemblyman Adam Gray, D-Merced, for campaign violations during his race in the 2014 election.”

MT:  OUT OF JAIL.  BG.   “Former Montana legislator Wesley Prouse is out of jail after agreeing to release financial documents related to penalties from a political corruption lawsuit.”

NM:  CONSULTANTS PAID.   NMPR.  “All  of the candidates combined have spent more than a half-million dollars just on political staff and consultants.”
