WEA Settles

The Washington Education Association settled its campaign finance case the the State of Washington had brought. After eight years and several go-rounds in court, Washington’s teacher and school employee union will pay $975,000 to settle a campaign finance lawsuit. “Course of Business” Exception

The Georgia State Ethics Commission dismissed charges related to an $80,000 loan. State ethics law, which requires lobbyists to report expenditures related to their lobbying activity, makes an exception for expenditures that are made in the course of business. The commission agreed the loan fit that exception.
