Alaska: Lobbying Law’s Broad Scope Cited

An oil company in Alaska will not be registering lobbyists with the state, according to this report.  ConocoPhillips is citing burdensome disclosure requirements, especially for non-lobbyists who provide support for lobbyists and their activities.  Exxon Mobil and TransCanada have registered lobbyists, according to the article.   Here’s a lengthy September 2008 advisory opinion discussing the issue; the opinion was requested by BP Exploration (Alaska), Inc.
