Pan Am 103 Victims and Lobbying

According to this Post report, Quinn Gillespie & Associates will receive $2 million of the Pan Am 103 settlement. Quinn Gillespie’s payment covers work it did from 2006 through 2008 helping the relatives plot strategy, generate publicity and arrange meetings at the State Department and elsewhere.

Times on Massey

The Times has this editorial today on the Massey Coal case. A wise decision would recognize the threat posed by record-breaking fund-raising for judicial elections — and make clear that judges and justice are not for sale. The Post has this editorial.

AIG PAC

Taxpayers now own about 80% of AIG, according to this Treasury Department press release.  According to FEC data, the American International Group Inc. Employees Political Action Committee is still in operation and its latest cash on hand is about $32,000.
