In Baltimore, H&S Bakery owner John Paterakis Sr. was charged in connection with an alleged campaign finance violation.
According to the latest indictment, [Ronald] Lipscomb paid a polling firm $12,500 in summer 2007 for a campaign study for [Councilwoman Helen] Holton, then up for re-election to city council. Weeks later, a company controlled by Paterakis wrote a check for $6,000 to Lipscomb’s firm, Doracon Contracting, for half the costs of that campaign study.
Individuals are prohibited from contributing more than $4,000 to any one candidate in an election cycle, according to campaign finance laws.
