  • Gov. Sanford’s Use of Planes

    News reports seem to indicate that Gov. Sanford’s use of state aircraft and other resources will be investigated.

    A review of travel expenses showed Sanford had flown in expensive business-class seating. State law forbids use of first-class tickets; regulations require “coach or tourist class” airfare. Additionally, The Associated Press reported Sanford used state planes for personal or political travel, a possible violation of state law.

    In the battle between small donors and big spenders, a decision in the Citizens United case to turn back the clock and increase the power of corporations would be the wrong one. Million of voters were encouraged by the small donor revolution in the 2008 election cycle—let’s do all we can to keep their voices loud in the years to come.

  • David Axelrod’s Email Spamgate

    The controversy over David Axelrod’s healthcare reform email gets full Gawker treatment here.  The story reports that dozens of people received the email who had never signed up for anything and that “email came from servers owned by GovDelivery.”
