This Oklahoman editorial discusses a proposed two year ban on lawmakers becoming lobbyists. Thirty-two of the estimated 385 registered lobbyists at the Legislature are former members of that body. Hiring one of them is a natural path toward influence because of the relationship these ex-lawmakers have with current ones.
Davidson, NC hires lobbyist
Davidson, NC hired a lobbyist to assist with funding for several local projects, according to this report. The Town Board on Tuesday approved, 5-0, a contract with Washington lobbying firm, McAllister & Quinn. The contract will pay the firm a $3,000 monthly retainer through February 2011.
