The proposed Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) may not come to a vote. According to the Post, “House Democrats abruptly pulled an ethics reform proposal from consideration yesterday after widespread opposition surfaced from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle a day before a scheduled vote on the plan.”
The Senate Committee on Rules and Administration held a hearing on “Limiting Abusive Robocalls.” I recommend the statements of the witnesses, and especially Mr. Bopp’s testimony highlighting analogous attempts to restrict door-to-door campaigning.
