According to this report, lobbyists in Connecticut see tough times ahead. With 1,154 lobbyists registered for the 2009 term and 187 members of the House and Senate, there’s bound to be a big scramble this year for diminishing resources.

In this battle between the ACLU and Common Cause, we come down firmly on Common Cause’s side. We have never agreed with the ACLU that campaign contributions should have the same kind of protection as speech.
