A federal judge says that he’ll deliver a ruling in January on a case challenging the constitutionality of parts of Connecticut’s campaign finance laws. FL: Suit on Electioneering
News out of Florida that a few groups are filing suit challenging provisions of Florida’s laws purporting to regulate groups involved in issue advocacy. Robert Gall, an attorney for the libertarian legal organization Institute for Justice, said the lawyers want the federal court to block enforcement of the electioneering provision before the Nov. 4 election. Robocall Case Coming?
In June the Indiana Supreme Court heard arguments in an interesting robocall case, State of Indiana v. American Family Voices, et al. The opinion should be on the court’s website when it is announced. Perhaps related, Virginia’s anti-spam law was recently struck. The opinion is here.
