FCC Transition

Obama picked a former lobbyist to head up his FCC transition team, according to this report. Obama is reported to have chosen lawyer and DC insider Henry Rivera, a former Democratic FCC commissioner, lobbyist, and currently a partner at communications law firm Wiley Rein.

Use of “White Space”

The FCC passed a rule to expand to the use of airwaves. Public interest groups lauded the decision, saying the use of white spaces would provide an alternative to what is being offered by telecom giants AT&T and Verizon Wireless.
