The Salt Lake Tribune covers talk of restricting lobbying expenditures by Utah counties and cities. Some state lawmakers are fed up with government lobbying government and are exploring ways to clamp down on a practice they fear is rampant and an abuse of taxpayer cash.

Utah campaign finance reform update

Here’s the latest on campaign finance reform moving ahead in Utah. Lawmakers passed House Bill 329 61-10 on Wednesday, advancing it to the Senate. Rep. Ben Ferry’s bill would require that contributions over $1,000 be reported, and prohibits cash donations over $100, among other things. More information on HB 329 is available here.
