Inaugural Committee Issues
The Denver Business Journal reports:
Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter said on Tuesday that his inaugural committee violated Colorado’s campaign finance laws by paying for campaign expenses out of its inaugural account.
During a press conference, Jim Carpenter, Ritter’s chief of staff, said the payments were discovered as the inaugural committee’s accountant prepared first-quarter Form 990, submitted to the IRS by tax-exempt and nonprofit organizations to report financial information.
Fair Elections Action Week
