And the lawmakers, who include powerful committee chairmen or party leaders, often pushed legislation or special appropriations sought by the corporations.

The White House withdrew John Sullivan’s nomination to the Federal Election Commission and the announcement is here. The statement doesn’t explain the reason for the withdrawal.
