Supreme Court Rejects Voters Education Committee Case

Mynorthwest.com reports:

A U.S. Supreme Court decision is a victory for former insurance commissioner Deborah Senn in a dispute over ads that ran against her campaign for attorney general.

The court declined Monday to hear the case.

That allows a state Supreme Court ruling last year to stand. The court said a political committee backed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce broke state campaign finance laws.

The “Voters Education Committee” initially refused to register as a political campaign group or reveal the source of its money.

The committee later reported a $1.5 million donation from the Chamber of Commerce for ads against the Democrat in the 2004 race, which was won by Republican Rob McKenna.

Cert was denied and the order is here.

UPDATE:  The Washington Supreme Court’s opinion is here.
