FEC Annual Report

Each year I look forward to the publication of the FEC’s Annual Report.  (Reports for prior years are conveniently online.)  No word on when this year’s Annual Report will be distributed.

If you can’t wait, I recommend the FEC’s 2008-2013 Strategic Plan.  The report notes that

[t]he FEC has been without a quorum of four Commissioners beginning December 31, 2007, and this circumstance may prevent the agency from meeting certain performance goals. The Commission continues to perform all of the work it is statutorily authorized to conduct, but particular matters requiring the approval of a minimum of four Commissioners cannot go forward until the agency again retains a quorum.

Illinois Reform

This Chicago Tribune story begins:

The strongest campaign fundraising restrictions state lawmakers have ever approved are sitting on the desk of a governor who was elected as a reformer but now has federal investigators crawling all over his administration.

Pittsburgh Limits Vetoed

A bill that would have limited political contributions to candidates for public office in Pittsburgh was vetoed Monday by Mayor Luke Ravenstahl.

Pittsburgh City Council last week voted 5-4 to limit candidates for a city office to a $2,000 donation from an individual and $5,000 from a group, corporation or union.

The Pittsburgh Business Times has the story.
