The Times reports on some complications of the effort to remove term limits on city offices.
“Candidates like me, who ran efficient and early campaigns in order to run a good race, shouldn’t be punished,” said Ms. Katz, who has not taken a position on term limits. She said the spending caps should be changed to let officials raise money afresh if they are given the chance to run for third terms.
Ms. Quinn’s office has asked the Campaign Finance Board to propose a fair solution, and the board will seek ideas from candidates beginning Tuesday, said a spokesman for the board, Eric Friedman. “We’re looking forward to receiving comments from the people this is going to affect,” he said.
