The counting continues in Minnesota. I mean the counting of recount funds received by the candidates, of course. Al Franken is raising recount funds through this site and another. The first site notes:
Individuals can contribute up to $2300 for the recount effort, previous contributions to Al Franken for Senate do not count towards that limit.
The second reads:
Individuals may contribute up to $12,300, see below. Your contribution does not count toward any other federal limit (that is, this contribution is not subject to your federal limits to candidates, PACs or committees for this or any other election cycle).
…
Contributions to Franken Recount Fund will be allocated as follows:
The first $2,300/$5,000 of a person’s/multicandidate committee’s donation will be designated to the recount fund of Al Franken for Senate. The next $10,000 of each donation from a person and the next $5,000 from a multicandidate committee will be allocated to the recount fund of the Minnesota Democratic Farmer Labor Party.
Any contributor may designate his or her donation for a particular participant. The allocation formula above may change if any contributor makes a donation that, when allocated, would exceed the amount that the contributor may lawfully give to any participant.
The Coleman campaign also has two sites. One notes:
Thank you for supporting the Coleman for Senate ‘08 Recount Fund (“CFSRF”). Donations to CFSRF will be used to pay for recount activities in connection with the 2008 general election.
The second:
The Coleman Minnesota Recount Committee (“CMRC”) is a joint fundraising committee on behalf of the recount funds of Coleman for Senate ‘08 (“Coleman”) and the Republican Party of Minnesota (“RPM”). Joint fundraising proceeds shall be allocated according to the following formula:
- The first $2,300 from an individual or non-multicandidate PAC shall be allocated to Coleman
- The next $10,000 from any individual or non-multicandidate PAC shall be allocated to RPM.
- The first $5,000 from any multi-candidate federal PAC shall be allocated to Coleman
- The next $5,000 from any multi-candidate federal PAC shall be allocated to RPM.
Notwithstanding this allocation formula, a donor may designate his or her donation for a particular participant. In addition, the allocation formula may change if a donor makes a donation which would exceed the amount that donor may give to a particular participant. The maximum amount an individual may donate to CMRC is $12,300. The maximum amount a multicandidate PAC may donate is $ 10,000, non-multicandidate PACs may donate $12,300. Donations to the Coleman Minnesota Recount Committee are not tax deductible for federal income tax purposes. Donations by corporations, foreign nationals, and federal government contractors are prohibited. Federal Law requires us to report the name, mailing address, occupation, and name of employer for each individual whose contributions aggregate in excess of $200 in an election cycle.
