Hardeeville and Jasper County hired lobbying firms to assist in getting federal money from the stimulus bill, according to this report.  Kinghorn, Hilbert & Associates was one of the firms hired.

Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, Beaufort County and the Beaufort County School District do not currently hire lobbyists.

But Bluffton town manager Bill Workman said the town has no plans to bring on a lobbyists but he said it could be a good move for other governments.

“The people in Washington I guarantee can’t spell Hardeeville,” so the spending helps, Workman said.

He said that if Hardeeville’s efforts bring stimulus dollars to Jasper Port-related projects the entire region gains.
