Oregon may change an ethics rule that, according to this report, caused many local officials to quit their posts.

Officials in many rural areas claimed the Oregon Ethics Reform Act invaded their privacy. The law requires officials, even those who volunteer, to file financial forms detailing their economic interests, along with quarterly updates. It also makes them list the names of extended family members over the age of 18.
