New California Fair Political Practices Commission member Lynn Montgomery was the campaign manager for a campaign that paid one of the highest fines in California history for accepting excessive contributions, according to this report.

“[Jerry Brown] did ask her about the issue, and he was satisfied with the answer that essentially the action the campaign took was on the advice of a political attorney,” [spokesman Scott] Gerber said Wednesday. “And the more fundamental point: He believes Lynn Montgomery knows the ropes, understands the issues and is well-qualified for the job.”
