The White House has acknowledged issuing at least four waivers to the ethics order and one letter of recusal clearing the way for Mark Patterson, formerly a lobbyist for Goldman Sachs, to become Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner’s chief of staff. Yet the administration has repeatedly declined to respond to requests from reporters to disclose all waivers and recusals granted under the ethics order.
