The Times has the latest in the issues surrounding Gov. Paterson’s use of Yankees tickets

State law forbids officials in the executive branch from soliciting or accepting gifts of more than nominal value from any lobbyist if the gift appears intended to sway the official.

The Yankees organization was registered at the time to lobby the Paterson administration in connection with the financing of a new Yankee Stadium. Violating the gift ban is a civil infraction, and the commission is seeking fines of roughly $93,000.
