Using Facebook to win races

Politico’s Daily Tech has an item on Facebook’s use in politics.

So what’s the latest FB tool campaigns are using? Theo Yedinsky of North Social, an Oakland consulting firm, tells us the customizable “tab” applications are taking off, letting FB fan pages for candidates act more like a website. In the Golden State, Kamala Harris, Meg Whitman, Yes on Prop 19, Carly Fiorina and Jerry Brown have included these tabs on the top of their pages, inviting fans to donate, shop, volunteer, get downloads, etc. “This is a way you can harness that network of thousands of fans that already spend 14 minutes a day on the site,” Yedinsky says. “It allows you to leverage all of that activity in Facebook and make it work for you.”
