The LA Times reports on calls for FEC appointments here.  “The groups, which include the nonpartisan Democracy 21 and the Campaign Legal Center, have been urging Obama to choose replacements since 2009, when two of the six commissioners’ terms expired. Another member’s term expired in 2007. Without replacements, the two Democrats and one Republican whose terms have expired continue to serve.”  The press release and letter are here.

Powell, a former chairman of the Federal Communications Commission and son of former Secretary of State Colin Powell, as its new president and chief executive officer.”  Philly.com.   2.  “Federal Housing Administration Commissioner David Stevens will take the helm at the Mortgage Bankers Association after he steps down next month, the MBA said on Tuesday.”  Reuters.

SELLING DEBATE RIGHTS. CNN.  “Larry Noble, an election law attorney with Skadden, Arps, described it as a ‘novel’ concept but also said it raises a ‘serious question’ as to whether it is even ‘possible under the law’ to make such a payment beyond the federal contribution limits. Federal law caps an individual’s and a political action committee’s annual donation to a national party committee at $30,800.”
