The Hill looks at fundraising surrounding official portraits of officeholders.
[Jerry] Lewis’s portrait has earned donations from several of K Street’s most prominent lobbying firms. Van Scoyoc Associates has donated $2,500; Mattoon & Associates has contributed $1,000; and Wexler & Walker Public Policy Associates has given $1,000 to Lewis’s portrait fund.
Monty Tripp, general counsel for Wexler & Walker, said the donation was not for lobbying purposes, though. Instead, Tripp, once an aide to former Rep. Al McCandless (R-Calif.), said she remembers working closely with Lewis when the 1982 redistricting in California brought his and McCandless’s districts together.
