Aurora Re-signs Lobbyist

Dan Shomon’s lobbying contract with Aurora, Illinois, was extended for another year, according to this report.  According to what might be his company’s website biography,

Shomon was formerly Political Director for Obama 2010, the political arm for U.S. Senator Barack Obama, from 2003 to the end of 2005. Shomon served as Political Director during Obama’s Democratic landslide primary and general election wins in 2004. During the primary, Shomon was in charge of operations and strategy in 97 (out of 102) Illinois counties in the March primary, including media relations, field operations, voter registration, message development, volunteer recruitment and election-day activities in those counties. He has also played a major role in media response, fund-raising, campaign management and message development in the U.S. Senate campaign. As Obama’s longest serving campaign adviser and strategist, Shomon managed Obama’s unsuccessful campaign for U.S. Congress in the 2000 Democratic primary. Shomon served for more than six years as Obama’s primary press spokesman and chief of staff from 1997 to late 2003. Shomon began his affiliation with Obama in 1996 and was his staff person in the State Senate beginning in February 1997.
