Lobbyist Gift Limit Change

California’s lobbyist gift limit may change, according to this report.

The Elections and Redistricting Committee approved a bill that would give corporations, unions, professional groups and others who hire statehouse lobbyists the same $10-a-month limit as voters imposed in 1974 on gifts lobbyists make to lawmakers.

Currently a lobbyist’s employer can give gifts worth up to $420 a year to a legislator. That has allowed for more generous giving, including ski trips, golf outings, banquets and tickets to sporting events and amusement parks.
